Superintendent reports hires, HVAC and cafeteria projects, stormwater study with Rutgers and strategic planning dates

Winslow Township — During the Winslow Township Board of Education meeting on July 15, 2026, the superintendent delivered an informational report summarizing personnel changes, facilities work and district initiatives for the coming school year.
The superintendent thanked the board for approvals and named administrative appointments: Dr. Veil Girard as Winslow Township High School principal and Joel Howard as Winslow Township High School vice principal. A vice principal vacancy at the high school will remain open while interviews continue. The superintendent also noted the transfer of Mister Dawkins to a supervisor role in special education and several assistant‑principal reassignments, and said Cynthia Stewart Dixon and Nathan Davis would serve in assistant‑principal roles at school 6 and the middle school, respectively.
On facilities, the superintendent reported HVAC upgrades at School 5 and School 6 are underway and that cafeteria work approved by the board will continue on schedule. Bids for temporary parking‑lot repairs will be reissued after initial bids were higher than expected. A stormwater runoff project will focus initially on School 3; the superintendent said an engineer and a Rutgers University collaboration will be used to develop an environmentally safe solution.
The superintendent said the district is exploring a partnership with the National Fitness Campaign to install outdoor fitness equipment if principals and athletic staff remain interested, and confirmed the district will finalize a new student cell‑phone policy before the September school opening. The superintendent also announced strategic planning meeting dates for October 7, November 4 and December 2 and said the district goal slogan for 2026–27 will be "educating with coherency." "We are pushing forward with one of our district initiatives for 26–27, and that's coherency," the superintendent said.
Board action earlier in the meeting approved the superintendent's recommended personnel and administrative items, which the superintendent said will take effect as implemented by central office and school administrators. No salary totals, contract amounts, or formal grant awards were presented in the report at this meeting.
