Ballard County Board of Education approves 2023–24 audit, 2025–26 calendar and consent agenda; schedules health forum
Summary
At its Dec. 16 meeting the Ballard County Board of Education unanimously approved the 2023–24 audit and the 2025–26 district calendar, approved a consent agenda with personnel and facilities items, and set a Health and Wellness forum for Jan. 13, 2025. The board also entered an executive session under KRS 61.810(f).
The Ballard County Board of Education on Dec. 16, 2024, unanimously approved several routine and substantive items, including the district’s 2023–24 audit and the 2025–26 school calendar.
Tammy Dennis moved to approve the 2023–24 audit report prepared by Shad Allen, CPA; Cathy Drummond seconded the motion, and the board voted unanimously to approve the audit (motion 8429). The approval completes the board’s formal acceptance of the district’s most recent audited financial statements as presented to the board.
The board also approved the consent agenda, moved by Cathy Drummond and seconded by Tammy Dennis (motion 8428). The consent package included the treasurer’s report, minutes, bills and a running count of expulsions, superintendent expenses and personnel items. The consent agenda also recorded a declaration of surplus property at Ballard County Elementary School (BCES), construction Phase 2A change orders, and the scheduling of a Health and Wellness forum for Jan. 13, 2025, at 5:45 p.m.
Personnel items on the meeting record included a retirement notice for Cindy Glisson, effective Jan. 1, 2025, and a resignation from Kassi Riley from the BCMS/BMHS life-skills instructional assistant position. A certified substitute, James Ouderkirk, was listed in the personnel items. The agenda also references construction closeout work for Phase 1 partial reroof (BG-4) and related purchase-order summary information and a deduct change order #3 with accompanying supplemental information.
On its second reading the board unanimously approved the 2025–26 district calendar. The motion to adopt the calendar was moved by Ivey Rollings and seconded by Cathy Drummond (motion 8431).
An item to schedule interviews for the District 3 board seat appeared on the agenda (motion 8430) but no action was taken on that item during the meeting.
Superintendent Casey Allen provided non-action updates including proposed meeting dates for 2025, an enrollment and attendance update, and recognition of student and staff achievements. The board voted to adjourn the regular session and begin an executive session pursuant to KRS 61.810(f) (motion 8432); minutes show the board later voted to end the executive session and return to the regular session (motion 8433). The meeting adjourned by unanimous vote (motion 8434).
The next regular meeting of the Ballard County Board of Education is scheduled for Jan. 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Ballard County Board of Education offices in Barlow.
