Ballard County school board approves $454,825 HVAC contract, weight-room project and Emergency Operations Plan

The Ballard County Board of Education on Feb. 10 unanimously approved several capital projects and adopted an Emergency Operations Plan during its regular meeting in Barlow.
Cathy Drummond, a Ballard County Board of Education member, moved to approve a contract with Triangle H+A for the BMHS and BCMS gyms HVAC replacement, citing the firm’s low bid of $454,825; Ivey Rollings seconded, and the board voted unanimously to award the contract and to approve a BG-1 amendment to reflect the actual bid costs. The board also approved a separate BG-1 for a weight-room project after Ben Stewart moved and Tammy Dennis seconded the motion.
The board approved the meeting agenda at the start of the session and adopted the consent agenda, which included the treasurer’s report, minutes, bills, expulsions to date, superintendent expenses, personnel actions, student accident insurance renewal, a capital funds request for a bus payment, and phase 2A high-school and phase 2B elementary-school BG-4 renovation submissions.
Superintendent Casey Allen delivered non-action updates, including calendar changes, preliminary 2025–26 salary-schedule discussions, options for renewing a Studer partnership (three-year partnership versus surveys-only), a sports-complex status update, enrollment and attendance figures, and recognition of student and staff achievements. Allen also noted the next regular board meeting is scheduled for March 17, 2025, at 6 p.m.
All formal motions recorded in the minutes were approved unanimously. The board adjourned after approving the Emergency Operations Plan; next meeting business will continue at the March session.
