The Grundy Center City Council adopted the fiscal year 2027 Annual City Budget Monday, April 20, approving Resolution 2026-19 in a 4-0 vote during its regular session. Mayor Paul Eberline presided; Councilmembers Mcdonald, Stensland, Smith and Lamp were present and Kuester was absent.
The council opened and closed a public hearing on the proposed FY2027 budget. During the hearing resident Rich Ahlberg asked about past audit costs, and resident Leonard Stephens asked whether the council felt the city was in sound financial shape. No extended discussion followed. Smith moved and Stensland seconded adoption of Resolution 2026-19; the motion carried four ayes.
The adopted resolution was presented to the council as the formal vehicle to set the city’s FY2027 spending plan. The council did not specify an effective date in the meeting record. The council adjourned at 7:15 p.m.; its next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 4, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
