Mayor Eberline and the Grundy Center City Council voted to authorize a proclamation establishing June 1–7 as Grundy Center Health Week.
Crystal Petersen, chair of the Grundy Center Wellness Committee, presented the proposal along with committee members Brian Sammons and Katie Lang. Petersen explained the purpose is to raise awareness of local health and wellbeing resources, encourage residents of all ages to engage in health-promoting activities and highlight community strengths. Community entities will be invited to coordinate programs aligned with the initiative’s goals.
Council Member Stensland moved and Council Member Smith seconded a motion to authorize Mayor Eberline to sign the proclamation. The motion carried on a 5–0 vote.
The council did not attach funding or specific program commitments at the meeting; the wellness committee will coordinate invitations to community partners and report back as events are scheduled.
