Ely council accepts municipal judge’s resignation; judge offers brief transition help

The Ely City Council on March 13 unanimously accepted the resignation of Municipal Court Judge Michael Coster, effective April 4, 2025.
Councilmembers and City Attorney Chris Arabia praised Judge Coster’s professionalism and experience. Judge Coster told the council he is available to stay up to two weeks beyond his planned departure if necessary to ease the transition while the city selects a replacement.
Mayor Nathan Robertson said he will present a short list of options for filling the municipal-judge role at a future council meeting. The council did not take additional action at the March 13 meeting beyond accepting the resignation.
