Nevada Northern Railway reports modest March ridership dip, launches BOGO50 ticket promotion

The Nevada Northern Railway (NNRY) Foundation presented its March operations report to the Ely City Council on April 10, reporting 248 passengers in March (a 4% decrease from the prior year) and 627 passengers year to date (a 19% increase over the previous year).
The foundation provided rolling-stock and locomotive status updates, noting several units are in service and others are out for repairs or awaiting restoration. NNRY also estimated economic impact from train passengers for the month and year-to-date using an average non-gaming daily expenditure of $170 per overnight visitor and said the total to date from riders is $106,590.
To increase ridership, NNRY announced a ticket promotion called BOGO50 (buy one, get a second ticket at 50% off for a different train within 72 hours) and said it will display the Doodlebug on the public calendar when presales for the excursion fall below 30 passengers. The foundation asked that the council note the schedule change and promotional effort as part of its ongoing visitor-economy activities.
