Nevada Northern Railway Foundation reports ridership gains, Fire & Ice success and new Doodlebug purchase

At the Feb. 13 Ely City Council meeting Nevada Northern Railway (NNRY) Foundation President Mark Bassett presented the foundation’s monthly museum operations report.
Bassett said locomotives #93, 109, 204, 310 and others remain in service while several locomotives remain out for repair or awaiting restoration funding. He reported January ridership of 186, a 36% increase from the previous year, and estimated an economic impact of $31,620 for January using an average expenditure-per-overnight-visitor figure provided in the packet. Bassett also highlighted the Fire & Ice event’s success and said the Foundation had acquired a restored 1930 Brill gasoline-powered 'Doodlebug' that will be shipped to Ely.
Bassett’s report included operational notes (locomotive and rolling-stock status), track status, social-media reach metrics, and recognition awards the museum has received in recent years. Council received the report as part of regular departmental and partner updates.
