The Ely City Council approved revisions to the city’s Redevelopment Grant Plan on Feb. 13 and authorized issuing Redevelopment Area grants this fiscal year.
Councilwoman Melody Van Camp said keeping redevelopment administration within City staff would streamline approvals and speed work because fewer procedural public-meeting requirements would be necessary. City Clerk Jennifer Lee confirmed grant applications will still come before the Council for final approval.
Councilman Terrill Trask moved to adopt the revised grant plan and updated application forms; the motion carried unanimously. Council members said they expect the changes to allow grant funds to be distributed in time for spring projects while preserving Council oversight.
