Mayor James Martin announced at the Bellemeade City Commission meeting on Oct. 13 that Commissioner Cindy Oppel has resigned and that he intends to offer the vacant seat to Ralph Farsetti, with the transition expected before the end of the year.
The resignation was recorded in the meeting minutes; commissioners did not take a formal vote to fill the seat during the Oct. 13 meeting. Mayor Martin made the announcement while reviewing new business and scheduling next steps for the commission.
If appointed by the mayor and accepted, Farsetti would fill a seat that was listed as vacant in the Oct. 13 minutes. The commission set a working meeting for Nov. 3 (via Zoom) and the next regular meeting for Nov. 10 at Shelby House Condominiums, where any formal appointment or confirmation procedure could appear on a future agenda.
The minutes for the Oct. 13 meeting were signed and recorded by Mayor James Martin and City Treasurer Geri Huff.
