City Treasurer Geri Huff presented the second reading of the budget and said the April financial statement showed higher community-events expenses tied to Arbor Day and a continuing decline in tax revenues that has been partially offset by insurance premium taxes. Huff told commissioners that the Goforth & Heron audit fees rose from an earlier estimate of $7,000 to $18,000 and that the city will contract with that firm because it was the only auditor to respond with a quote.
Huff also reported that she renewed a certificate of deposit at PNC Bank at 4% for four months and will keep $80,000 on deposit there. Commissioner Burt Deutsch moved to adopt the budget ordinance as corrected; Commissioner Halle Brumleve seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The meeting record shows the commission also accepted the Treasurer's Report and approved the April 14 minutes earlier in the meeting. The commission scheduled a working meeting via Zoom on Monday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. and the regular June meeting in person on Monday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. at The Steel Technologies Building.
