Park board approves 'tobacco free area' sign, finalizes bathhouse plan and notes permits

Chairman Lee Miller opened the meeting and the board toured the new park shop, which the minutes describe as including machine storage, an office, a break room and heating.
Following the tour, Bruce Klein moved to approve the agenda; Curwood Seefeldt seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Later in the meeting Curwood Seefeldt moved to change the proposed tobacco sign wording from "tobacco free park" to "tobacco free area." Bob Flath seconded that motion and the board voted in favor.
Board members also recorded that the bathhouse renovation plan has been finalized and that construction will begin in the spring. On permits, board member Billi Warcken said she obtained a permit from Grand Rapids township for a shelter over a donated firetruck; the board noted that no permit had been obtained for a cement pad used to store firepits by Kevin Shockman.
The board listed future projects including additional picnic shelters, construction of an auditorium stage and repair of stucco on the park house. No formal vote was recorded on those future projects at the Oct. 23 meeting.
