Commissioner Bruce Klein raised the Red River Valley water supply project at the Oct. 1 LaMoure County commissioners meeting and said the county should decide at the next meeting whether to pass a contingency agreement to participate.
Klein said that signing a contingency agreement would commit the county to participation but would not trigger payments until 2027. He added the county could sell its share in the future if local circumstances changed. The board did not vote on the matter at the Oct. 1 session and agreed to revisit the issue at the next meeting.
The discussion stemmed from a prior presentation to the board; no contract or payment schedule was approved during the Oct. 1 meeting.
