County updates road work, SRF applications and FEMA culvert plan; local share for culvert set at 10%

Highway Superintendent Darrick Nitschke told the board that four‑way flashing stop signs had been installed at County Roads 34 and 62 with advance warning signage, and that the crew would next patch CR 65 and CR 35 and haul gravel on CR 34. He reported paving was complete on CR 35 from Highway 281 to Jud and that crews were doing shoulder work and expected striping to be finished at the end of the week. Nitschke said the project overall came in under budget, though some extra work fell outside the original contract; KLJ will explore flex funding to cover that additional work.

Bryan Tykwinski of KLJ said he would complete an SRF funding application for patching, chip sealing and fog sealing at Memorial Park and Lake LaMoure. Tykwinski also reported Prairie Dog funding projections are reduced for LaMoure County by about $10,000 with an expected payout in the first quarter of 2025.

Tykwinski described a FEMA concrete box culvert project on 65th Street north of Edgeley that will be bid to contractors; the minutes record the county’s local share for the total project will be 10 percent and that the State's Attorney will review the contract prior to placing it on a future agenda. The minutes also record a motion to sign tower-lease contracts (drafted by the State's Attorney) with the City of LaMoure and Titan Machinery at $1,500 per year to offset tower maintenance costs and to schedule yearly tower maintenance.
