LaMoure County commissioners authorize equipment sales, extend loader warranty and approve routine payments

The LaMoure County Board of County Commissioners on Sept. 3 approved a series of routine operational actions, including authorization to sell two pieces of highway equipment and a one‑year warranty extension for a payloader.
Commissioner Keith Heidinger moved — and Commissioner Lee Miller seconded — to approve the meeting agenda with two additions (an election rotation drawing and a report on estimated tax statements). The board voted unanimously to adopt the agenda. Commissioner Robert Flath moved to approve the Aug. 20 meeting minutes; Commissioner Bruce Klein seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Highway Superintendent Darrick Nitschke told the board two items that failed to sell at auction (a sweeper and a generator) had interested buyers. Commissioner Heidinger moved, and Commissioner Miller seconded, a motion to determine both pieces are valued under $2,500; the board then authorized the superintendent to sell the county property. Both motions passed with all voting "aye."
Nitschke also recommended renewing a yearly warranty on the county's payloader that was nearing the end of its factory coverage. Commissioner Bruce Klein moved to extend the warranty for one year at a cost of $4,560; Commissioner Robert Flath seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
On roadwork, Nitschke reported the road department has about 1.6 miles left of grinding on County Road 34 and has ordered an additional two tons of magnesium chloride for dust control. He said Knife River finished patching work last week and will continue with milling and main‑line paving. Nitschke also noted that State Revolving Fund (SRF) applications for state funding are due at the end of November.
Treasurer Cindy Worrel reported the county's estimated tax statements were produced quickly at a printing cost of $3,221; she noted that estimate does not include staff time. Auditor Jan Hamlin told the board the election rotation drawing is scheduled for Sept. 5 at 4:20 p.m. in the Clerk of Court's Office.
The board approved payment of the bills presented; Commissioner Robert Flath moved, Commissioner Keith Heidinger seconded, and the tally was unanimous. Chairman Jason Weigel adjourned the meeting at 10:13 a.m.
