City staff announced that security coverage for the South Street parking ramp will begin Jan. 6 after several months of recruiting.
"Starting January 6, we'll have coverage for the South Street ramp with security guards," staff said, noting it took many months to find people for the assignment. Members asked whether guards would have access to warming shelter or an office between rounds during winter; staff replied there is an office for parking agents at the site and guards can use vehicles or that office if necessary.
Staff also distributed a construction project map to members and closed with holiday remarks. No formal votes or follow-up motions were recorded on this operational item during the meeting.
