The Town of Maiden Rock board voted Aug. 11 to pay a chargeback assessed against WI Frac Sand for the 2020 tax year, an expense the assessor estimated at $22,286.
Assessor Bob Irwin explained the township’s required chargeback and said portions of that amount will be returned to the township due to allocations for the Ellsworth School district and county levies. Irwin said he will assist Clerk/Treasurer Carla R. Schuster with the online filing process, which must be completed by Oct. 1, 2025.
Supervisor Allen White moved to pay the chargeback as soon as possible; Supervisor John Danneker seconded the motion. All three board members — Chairman Jerry F. Duden, Danneker and White — voted in favor and the motion carried.
The board noted the payment will affect the township budget and directed follow-up to determine the net effect after the school and county portions are deducted. The clerk and assessor will coordinate the filing and any necessary budget updates.
The board took no other action on additional resolutions at the meeting; the resolution regarding authority bonds for business loans was held for next month.
