Maiden Rock orders 150 water-test bottles; pickup set for May 10 during Big Dumpster Day

Supervisor John Danneker told the board that Maiden Rock ordered 150 bottles from UW-Stevens Point for volunteer well water testing, up from 45 wells tested last year. Danneker said the tests cost $68 each and that bottles will be available for pickup on May 10 during Big Dumpster Day from 8 a.m. to noon.
The board and public commenters encouraged residents to participate to increase the scope of local water testing. Mary Anne Wise also used the public-comment time to raise a governance concern: she said town chairs currently have sole authority to approve bonds for business loans and presented a possible resolution to change that practice.
No vote on changing bonding authority was taken at the meeting; the proposal was presented for initial discussion and may be placed on a future agenda.
