Kanawha council adopts resolution designating City Hall front door as official meeting-posting location

Mayor Randolph Yeakel and the Kanawha City Council on July 14 adopted Resolution 2026-11, designating the front door of Kanawha City Hall, 121 N. Main Street, as the city’s official, prominent location for posting public meeting notices.
The resolution cites the amendment to Iowa Code section 21.4, effective July 1, 2026, and authorizes the City Clerk to post meeting notices and agendas on the city’s official website in addition to the physical posting. The measure also permits duplicate courtesy postings at other locations to further inform the public.
Council Member Phyllis Jordanger moved for adoption; Council Member Chad Lang seconded the motion. The motion carried with all members present voting in favor.
The resolution is intended to ensure Kanawha’s compliance with the state’s open-meetings posting requirement and to provide residents with a consistent place to find meeting notices. Barb Baker, the City Clerk, is responsible for implementing the posting procedure going forward.
