Council tables plan to relocate donated pavilion on Merchants Row

The Perryville City Council on March 5 tabled a request from Main Street Director Aly Huff to move and install a donated covered wood pavilion on the lot adjacent to the Grill House on Merchants Row.
Aly Huff, not present at the meeting, left drawings and a proposal to have an individual move and reconstruct the structure at no cost to the city. Councilperson Simpson said the pavilion may be oversized for the space, and Counselor Jordan Shewmaker advised clarifying property boundaries and cautioned against encroaching on the neighboring Tucker property. Following discussion, Councilperson Simpson moved to table the item; Councilperson Caldwell seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
The council also reviewed proposed designs for Perryville welcome signs and selected the design that includes a cannon. The pavilion item will return for further review once property boundaries and size issues are clarified.
