The Southampton Township Land Development Board voted Dec. 4 to amend the Township zoning code to permit dog training and enrichment/kennel facilities in the Highway Commercial zone. Mr. Harris, the board planner, presented Ordinance 2025-07 and testified that the change is consistent with the township Master Plan.
Board discussion was brief. Board member Mr. Dehoff moved to approve the ordinance changes; Mr. Raftery seconded the motion. The motion carried with ayes from Ms. Conover, Mr. Heston, Mr. Kavanagh, Mr. Keebler, Mr. Raftery, Mr. Mattio and Mr. Dehoff.
The board then considered and memorialized resolution 2025.27, which memorializes Ordinance 2025-07. Mr. Lange, the board solicitor, reviewed the memorializing resolution before the board voted to memorialize it (motion by Mr. Kavanagh, second by Mr. Heston). The memorialization vote recorded the same seven board members in the affirmative.
The ordinance amendment changes permitted uses in section 12-3.6(B) of the township code to explicitly include dog training and enrichment/kennel facilities in the Highway Commercial zone. The transcript records no public comment on this item during the meeting.
The board did not state an effective date during the meeting; the resolution was memorialized on the record for the township's files.
