Magdalena board tables leave-policy updates, meets in executive session on litigation

The proposed revisions—described in the minutes as converting leave from days to hours and considering a cap on vacation and sick-leave separation pay—were presented for discussion; the board did not vote to adopt any of the changes and requested the administration circulate the draft language for further review.
Later in the meeting the board convened an executive session pursuant to Section 10-15-1(H8) NMSA 1978 to discuss limited personnel and legal matters, specifically threatened or impending litigation. The minutes record that no action was taken during the closed session; the board returned to open session and signed an assurance statement certifying that only the listed topics were discussed in executive session.
The district posted an assurance statement and closed-session minutes as part of its record. The board also discussed moving the January meeting to Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, when it plans to hold a fourth reading of the leave-policy revisions, swear in newly elected members and reorganize the board.
