Magdalena school board sets graduation time, approves feeder route and routine budget transfers

The Magdalena Municipal Schools Board of Education voted unanimously Dec. 15 to change the district’s graduation ceremony time to 2:00 p.m., approve an additional feeder-route application for the 2025–26 school year and adopt its consent agenda of financial reports and budget transfers.
The votes took place during the board’s regular business meeting at the Magdalena school library. Board President Lynn Major called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Brett Bruton moved to approve the agenda and the motion passed. The board then approved the Nov. 17, 2025 meeting minutes by voice vote.
Kelby Stephens moved to change the graduation ceremony time to 2:00 p.m.; Brett Bruton seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board also approved an additional feeder-route application after a motion by Stephens and a second from Rachel Montoya.
On the consent agenda the board approved the activity account report, bill list and investments and multiple budget adjustments and intraclass transfers. The consent items listed in the minutes include intraclass transfers for Title I and IDEA B, a Public School Capital Outlay increase BAR, an Impact Aid operational increase BAR, a Title I Comprehensive Support and Improvement increase BAR, JOM funding transfers, a Carl D. Perkins intraclass transfer and a Career Technical Education program transfer. The minutes do not list dollar amounts for the transfers.
The actions were recorded with unanimous votes by the five board members present: Lynn Major (president), Kelby Stephens (vice president), Sharon Harris (secretary), Brett Bruton and Rachel Montoya.
The board’s next regular meeting was set for Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, during which members will consider additional items including a further reading of updated leave policies and the swearing in of newly elected members.
