Board to revisit Westchester Power postcard after additional months of rate data

The board discussed communications to Westchester Power subscribers after staff reported that December numbers were not yet available but that escrow rates look likely to be lower than ConEdison’s. Councilwoman Jackson urged sending a postcard or other outreach to inform residents about variable rates and recent months when rates rose, citing resident concerns.
“How it would we would sit on a postcard, I still think because we had those two prior months that were higher, I still feel a postcard should be sent,” Councilwoman Jackson said. Board members agreed it would be most effective to send consumer communications after three consecutive months of comparative rates and to report both favorable and unfavorable outcomes.
Chair said staff member Noam plans to negotiate a new contract while escrow rates are favorable; the board agreed to place the item on the April agenda after three months of rate data are available so the board can highlight both the good and the bad for residents.
