Atkinson schedules April Egg Hunt, plans Atkinson Day and fundraising push

The Atkinson Recreation Commission scheduled an Egg Hunt for April 4 at Woodlock Park, starting at 11 a.m., weather and ground conditions permitting. Staff member Noriko will coordinate with the Girl Scouts to stuff candies and place about 2,000 eggs for the event.
The commission set Atkinson Day for Sept. 12 with a rain date of Sept. 13 and said it will organize a pickleball tournament, softball games and fireworks in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The commission is still looking for an Atkinson Day chairperson and asked Staff member Noriko to request an advertisement from the town administrator to recruit a chair.
Members also discussed fundraising items: a draft donation-drive letter that commissioners liked and a banner policy for sponsor banners at Woodlock Park and Collins Park. Committee member Steve will prepare a draft banner policy for the April meeting, and Noriko will obtain a printing estimate for the donation letter.
The minutes note a Women’s Self-Defense Clinic under New Business but include no further details.
The commission will revisit fundraising and event staffing at its next meeting on April 14.
