The Atkinson Recreation Commission said the dugout replacement at Baseball Field 1 is in its final stage but has been delayed by weather and a shortage of volunteers; the project still requires the fence to be reinstalled.
Commission members also recorded that Mission Turf Services LLC of Exeter, New Hampshire, will be the contractor responsible for opening the town’s four baseball fields for spring 2026, consistent with a February vote. Committee member Jim will contact Mission Turf to request the company’s certificate of insurance and finalize the contract, and Staff member Noriko will cancel the town’s prior vendor, Oasis.
Members raised an additional field maintenance item: sprinkler heads at Collins Park need to be raised because the turf is too thick for the current settings. Committee member Steve said he will prepare a work order for the Department of Public Works to address the sprinkler adjustments.
The minutes include no timeline for when Mission Turf will perform field openings, nor a dollar value for the contractor agreement. The commission expects the April meeting to include a draft banner policy and further operational follow-up.
The commission’s next meeting is April 14.
