The Winside Public Schools Board of Education approved financial reports and several motions affecting the district’s budget and administration at its Jan. 12 meeting.
On a motion by Jon Jaeger, seconded by Zachary Brokaw, the board approved the financial reports and the following claims: General Fund $422,906.39, Special Building Fund $58,672.68 and Lunch Fund $20,607.22. The motion passed unanimously.
The board waived first reading and approved final reading updates to Policy 718 (Fiscal Management Internal Controls) and Policy 802.07 (School Food Procurement) on a unanimous vote. The board also approved a multi‑year contract for Superintendent Jeff Hoesing effective with the 2026–27 school year; the motion to approve the contract passed unanimously.
By motion and unanimous vote the board authorized an inter‑fund loan of up to $600,000 from the bond fund to the general fund for the 2025–26 fiscal year.
Later in the meeting the board voted to enter executive session at 8:50 p.m. for the protection of the public interest to discuss the possible purchase of a lot adjacent to the school and to discuss facility usage; the board exited executive session at 9:32 p.m. There was no public action reported following the executive session in the minutes.
The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in the board room. The meeting adjourned at 9:36 p.m.
