Winside board approves audit, staff agreement and $15,000 transfer to athletics

Winside Public Schools Board President Jon Jaeger called the Dec. 8 meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.; the board then moved through several formal approvals, including financial claims, the annual audit, a transfer to athletics and contract ratification.
The board voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda, which included the meeting agenda, minutes from the Nov. 10 regular meeting and a Dec. 3 special meeting, and option enrollments for the 2025–26 school year. The motion was made by Kate Falk and seconded by Landon Grothe.
Superintendent Jeff Hoesing and board members then considered December financial materials. Following discussion, Diane Frederick moved and Tarrin Quinn seconded a motion to approve the financial reports, the budget report and claims totaling General Fund $504,384.27, Special Building Fund $53,257.81 and Lunch Fund $24,976.13; the motion carried with all members voting yes.
The board accepted the 2024–25 audit on a motion by Kate Falk, seconded by Landon Grothe. The same meeting approved an interfund transfer of $15,000 from the General Fund to the Activities (athletics) Fund on a motion by Landon Grothe, seconded by Zachary Brokaw.
Separately, the board approved the certified staff negotiated agreement for the 2026–27 school year after a motion by Tarrin Quinn and seconded by Diane Frederick. The board also approved an updated list of paid and volunteer coaches for the upcoming winter sports season.
All recorded votes on listed motions were unanimous with no nays. The board adjourned at 7:54 p.m.
