Winside board approves $1.2 million interfund loan, routine claims and evaluation tool

Winside Public Schools Board of Education members unanimously approved several financial and administrative measures at their Oct. 13 meeting, including an interfund loan of up to $1,200,000 from the General Fund to the Building Fund for the 2025–26 fiscal year.
The motion to allow the interfund loan passed after a motion by Zachary Brokaw, seconded by Diane Frederick. The board recorded the vote as Ayes: Brokaw, Frederick, Quinn, Falk, Grothe and Jaeger; Nays: none. The loan was described in board action as an internal transfer available for the 2025–26 fiscal year.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved the district’s financial reports, budget report and claims totaling $423,339.40 for the General Fund, $374,431.28 for the Special Building Fund and $28,605.35 for the Lunch Fund. That motion was made by Kate Falk and seconded by Zachary Brokaw; the vote was unanimous.
The board also approved a small transfer of $1,800 from the General Fund to the Activities Fund (motion by Brokaw; second by Frederick) and adopted the NASB interim superintendent evaluation as the formal evaluation instrument for the 2025–26 school year (motion by Falk; second by Brokaw). All recorded votes on these items were unanimous.
Superintendent Jeff Hoesing and board members discussed the recent financial audit during the superintendent’s report but no separate action on the audit was recorded at the meeting.
The board announced its next regular meeting for Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the board room.
