District staff told the Webster County Board of Education that the state provided guidance and a Department of Education grant link to support required mapping work, but staff estimated actual 3D mapping costs could exceed the grant amount.
Staff member said attorneys are reviewing mapping guidance and that the Department of Education provided a $4,500 funding link to help counties with the mapping requirement. Staff cautioned the board that "I can't picture this cost them less than $10,000 anywhere near it for the 3D mapping," and said staff would review the link and follow up with principals and central office staff about application and scope.
The board did not take formal action on mapping at the July 28 meeting; staff said it would work with county personnel to prepare any necessary application and would bring a recommended plan back to the board.
