Tinicum signs on as Section 106 consulting party for Clay Ridge Road bridge rehab

Tinicum Township supervisors on July 7 authorized ratification of a bridge-related Section 106 consulting-party response and asked township staff to represent local interests in the county’s Clay Ridge Road bridge rehabilitation review.
The bridge in question—a concrete arch structure contributing to the Ridge Valley Historic District—was described by a historic commissioner as an early, significant example of concrete-arch bridge construction. Members of the historic commission urged the board to support proper restoration to avoid loss of historic fabric, noting a previous county rehab had substantially altered another bridge’s historic value.
Township manager Judith Danko said she had submitted forms and requested that several township representatives (including the historic commission and planning commission designees) be added to the consulting-party list; the deadline for responses had been that day. The board also approved a stormwater facility maintenance and monitoring agreement for 84 Red Hill Road (TMP 44-011-089), where property work relies on a tree-protection/stormwater approach.
Separately, the board appointed Craig DeGroot to the Land Preservation Committee after noting his long volunteer service as a Tinicum Conservancy land monitor. The consulting-party participation allows the township to review proposed design changes so the bridge’s historic characteristics can be considered during the county project.
