Winside Public Schools board advances superintendent search, authorizes contacting four applicants

Winside Public Schools Board of Education members met Dec. 3 for a special session focused on the district’s superintendent search. President Jon Jaeger called the meeting to order at 5:38 p.m., and the board approved the agenda on a motion by Landon Grothe, seconded by Zach Brokaw.
Shari Becker, the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB) representative and guest member, led a continued discussion of final details for the superintendent search process, including steps the board would take before interviews. At 5:43 p.m., the board entered executive session on a motion by Kate Falk, seconded by Diane Frederick, "for the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of individuals" to consider applicants and select individuals for interviewing.
The board left executive session at 6:42 p.m. On returning to open session the board authorized Becker to contact applicants A, C, G and H about the superintendent vacancy, finalized the interview schedule, narrowed the interview questions and reviewed the interview protocol. A special board meeting for superintendent interviews is scheduled for Dec. 10 at 1:00 p.m.; the next regular board meeting is Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
The special meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn by Tarrin Quinn, seconded by Landon Grothe, at 7:46 p.m. Tarrin Quinn is recorded as the meeting’s recording secretary and the minutes were attested by President Jon Jaeger.
