Winside board hires Brooke Reeson as elementary principal; approves high school principal contract after executive session

The Winside Public Schools Board of Education unanimously approved the hire of Brooke Reeson as the district’s elementary principal for the 2026–27 school year and later approved the high school principal’s contract following a closed-session review.

At the Feb. 9 meeting, Board Member Kate Falk moved and Jon Jaeger seconded approval of Reeson’s contract; the motion passed with all five voting Aye (Jaeger, Quinn, Frederick, Grothe, Falk). The hiring was recorded in the minutes as a formal board action.

The board entered executive session at 8:35 p.m. “for the protection of needless injury to the reputation of personnel, to discuss the high school principal’s contract,” after a motion by Tarrin Quinn and second by Kate Falk; the minutes record Ayes from Quinn, Frederick, Grothe, Falk and Jaeger. A motion by Quinn to exit executive session was recorded at 9:27 p.m.; the minutes do not supply a roll-call tally for that exit motion.

After returning to open session, Tarrin Quinn moved and Diane Frederick seconded approval of the high school principal’s contract for the 2026–27 school year; the motion passed unanimously.

The minutes do not provide contract terms, salaries, or effective dates beyond the 2026–27 school year, nor do they record any statements from the principals during these actions. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for March 9, 2026.
