Board approves shared IT services MOU, records retirements and clears extracurricular hires

At its Monday meeting the Webster County Board of Education approved an interlocal memorandum of understanding with Braxton County Schools to share network engineering services provided by Nate Perry, recorded a retirement, and advanced multiple personnel actions.
Staff told the board Braxton County had already approved the agreement; after Webster’s vote the motion carried. The MOU allows Webster County Schools to share network engineering and related IT support with Braxton County under the same terms the district used previously with Nate Perry.
Under personnel business, the board recorded the retirement of John Clutter effective that day and accepted the resignation of a former substitute, identified in the meeting as Mollahan. Board members discussed best practice for announcing resignations and retirements at the start of meetings and asked staff to add late notices as handouts to the agenda when necessary.
The board also voted to approve supervisory aides across multiple schools and most extracurricular positions. One item (1c) and a Glade Elementary appointment required a separate vote after a board member briefly left the room to avoid a possible conflict of interest; both votes carried.
Separately, the board discussed an MOU proposed with Nicholas County Empowerment to supply lunches to Webster County Starting Points at a rate of $4.60 per child for 2025–26; that item was brought up and then pulled from the agenda for later handling.
