Board approves school improvement plans, IMC, TBIP and employment nondiscrimination policies

Valley Early Learning Center Director Candace Harris and Columbia Virtual Academy principals Eldon Palmer and Katie Huffman presented School Improvement Plans (SIPs) for their buildings. Director Paul Voelker moved to approve the SIPs as presented; Director Doug Elledge seconded and the motion carried.
Superintendent Dr. Rehn presented the Instructional Material Committee (IMC) memo for the 2025–26 school year, describing the committee composition (two parents/guardians, four certificated staff, four building administrators and one classified staff). Director Doug Elledge moved to approve the IMC memo; Director Nancy Cocroft seconded and the motion carried.
Dr. Rehn also presented the Transitional Bilingual Instructional Program (TBIP) instructional plan and recommended funding for the 2025–26 year. Director Paul Voelker moved to approve the TBIP plan and funding; Doug Elledge seconded and the motion carried.
For board policy, Dr. Rehn presented a second reading of new Policy 3210 (Nondiscrimination) and revised Policy 5010 (Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action) and recommended approval. Director Doug Elledge moved to approve both policies; Director Nancy Cocroft seconded and the motion carried.
