Walton council approves food-service permit and occupational tax ordinances; truck‑traffic restriction receives first reading

Council member Amy Long moved and Council member Dan Martin seconded approval of the second reading of Ordinance 2025-13, which creates an inspection and permit program for mobile food service — including food trucks, trailers, canopies and tents — and delegates life-safety inspections to the Walton Fire District’s inspection bureau to apply the Kentucky Administrative Regulations (Chapter 10, Title 815). The roll-call vote recorded 'yes' from Council members Dan Martin, Amy Long, Rose Beach and Matt Brown, carrying the second reading.
Also on second reading, Council member Amy Long moved and Council member Dan Martin seconded Ordinance 2025-15, which amends Ordinance 2024-17 to require businesses operating in the city to obtain an occupational license account and to require employers to deduct and withhold an occupational tax from employee compensation for work performed in the city and remit it to the city or its designee. The same four council members voted 'yes' on the second reading, advancing the measure.
Council member Dan Martin moved and Council member Amy Long seconded the first reading of Ordinance 2025-16, an amendment to Chapter 74 that would create Schedule IV to prohibit heavy truck traffic from entering and exiting the west entrance of Towne Center Drive at its intersection with Mary Grubbs Highway. The roll-call vote was recorded in favor by Dan Martin, Amy Long, Rose Beach and Matt Brown; because this was a first reading, the ordinance will return for a second reading before any final action.
