The Ryland Heights Commission unanimously appointed Jill Smith to fill a vacant seat and sworn her in at its Jan. 14 meeting.
Mayor John Cole nominated Jill Smith to the commission; a roll-call vote recorded Mayor John Cole, Commissioner Bowman, Commissioner Collins and Commissioner Jason Ponder voting yes and the nomination carried (Ayes 4, Nays 0). City Clerk Wendell Bell administered the oath of office to Smith immediately after the vote.
The minutes also note that Commissioner Bowman previously received an oath of office on Dec. 30, 2024, administered by City Clerk Wendell Bell and witnessed by Mayor John Cole and Treasurer Rod Rigacci. The commission moved on to routine business after the swearing-in.
