Ryland Heights discusses park camping permits, septic quote for multipurpose building, Mann Road water lines and fire-department staffing

The commission heard multiple committee reports and citizen questions at the Aug. 13 meeting. The parks committee raised questions about overnight camping and fishing; the commission directed the city clerk to draft a permission application that would require a user's name, address and responsibility for cleanup, with cleanup costs charged to those who fail to comply.

The building committee reported a septic-system construction proposal priced at $15,900 and said it is awaiting contractor quotes for land clearing, restroom plumbing, concrete work and building costs for a proposed multipurpose facility. The treasurer's earlier reminder that the multipurpose building must be under contract with contractors before Dec. 31, 2024 frames the committee's timeline for securing bids.

Commissioners also noted that repair work had begun on Lambs Ferry Road. During the privilege-of-the-floor period a resident asked for action on tree limbs hanging into the roadway on Whites Road and asked whether annexation was possible; the minutes record the questions and note the limb issue would be addressed but record no formal annexation action.

Finally, the commission discussed installing water lines on Mann Road and the possibility of adding a paramedic to the fire department; minutes record discussion but no formal motions, funding sources or timelines for either item.
