Robersonville evaluates utility-billing options and one-time debris pickup amid funding uncertainty

Town Manager Chris Roberson used the Sept. 10 council meeting to update members on utility-billing negotiations and a temporary debris collection program.
Roberson said the neighboring towns of Everetts and Parmele are exploring alternative utility billing and collection arrangements, and Robersonville will review whether adjustments are needed to its per-thousand-gallon billing rate before the next fiscal year. He said the town will keep the bulk-rate contract while staff evaluate any per-unit price changes.
Roberson also reported the contractor is performing a one-time debris pickup in September under a revised policy. "This is a one-time thing as we are trying to find the money to continue this contracted effort," he said. "I don't know whether we can find the money to continue it past September. If we can't find the money the only option we have is to bring it back in house." The council heard no motion to extend funding during the meeting.
Staff will continue negotiating billing arrangements with neighboring towns and will return to the council with recommendations if changes to the per-thousand-gallon charge are proposed for the next fiscal year.
