Robersonville council to prioritize worst streets in HUD-funded upgrade

At its Sept. 10 meeting the Robersonville Town Council directed Town Manager Chris Roberson to prioritize repairs on the town's worst streets as part of a HUD-funded street upgrade project.
Roberson told the council the advertisement for bids is complete but the consultant "requested that the council prioritize how they want to use the money" because the available funding will not cover resurfacing every street on the provided list. "The worst ones first," Roberson said when Mayor Brown asked how to determine the order of work. Council members agreed by consensus to focus on pothole repairs and to move as far down the list as funds allow.
The consultant provided estimated costs for both repairs and full resurfacing on a set of candidate streets; the estimates make clear the town cannot afford complete resurfacing of all streets under the current allocation. Council members did not identify individual streets at the meeting; the manager was directed to produce a prioritized repair list to define the project scope for the bid advertisement.
The advertisement for bids will include the prioritized scope so contractors can price repairs or resurfacing consistent with available funds. The council did not vote on a specific list at the meeting; next steps are for staff to finalize the prioritized scope and proceed with bid solicitation.
