Crested Butte Council holds executive sessions on water district and Center for the Arts; continues conveyance discussion with arts group

The Crested Butte Town Council entered two executive sessions July 21 to confer with the Town Attorney and to develop negotiation strategy.
The first executive session, held under C.R.S. § 24-6-402(4)(e) and (b), addressed positions and legal advice related to the Mt. Crested Butte Water and Sanitation District. The session ran from 8:53 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. and included the council, Town Attorney Karl Hanlon, Town Manager Dara MacDonald, Interim Finance Director Rob Sweeney and Public Works Director Shea Earley.
A second executive session, held under the same statutory provisions, addressed the Crested Butte Center for the Arts and ran from 9:15 p.m. to 9:44 p.m. Attendees included the council, Town Attorney Karl Hanlon, Town Manager Dara MacDonald and Interim Finance Director Rob Sweeney. The open meeting resumed at 9:45 p.m.; Mayor Ian Billick made the required announcement upon return to open session.
Following the executive sessions, representatives Jillian Liebl and Brett Henderson of The Center for the Arts reported to the council on a proposed conveyance of building and land. The majority of councilmembers expressed openness to continuing the discussion; The Center for the Arts was asked to return in October for further consideration. The minutes record no final decision and do not disclose confidential details discussed during the executive sessions.
