Robersonville tables wastewater pre‑treatment policy as town seeks bids and funding

The Robersonville Town Council on Aug. 13 tabled a proposed pre‑treatment policy for the wastewater treatment plant and directed staff to seek additional bids and funding options before taking final action.
Town Manager Chris Roberson told the council the State has requested prompt remediation and that Clearwater Solutions prepared the draft policy. Roberson warned, "If this is not adopted soon, the State will likely begin assessing penalties," and he said the town does not yet have an identified funding source for implementation.
Councilman Glen Cowan pressed staff on funding. Roberson replied he had spoken to finance staff (Melonie Bryan) and was told funds exist in the sewer fund that could be reallocated to pay for development of the policy without negatively impacting operations. Despite that, the council voted unanimously to table the item for one month to collect additional bids and firm up a funding plan.
The minutes do not list dollar amounts for adopting or implementing the pre‑treatment program beyond the $5,000 PO referenced elsewhere for a separate contractor agreement. Council directed staff to return next month with cost estimates and recommendations. The council did not adopt the policy at this meeting.
