The Redington Shores Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee on Aug. 28 reviewed plans for an upcoming community picnic and assigned follow-up tasks to members.
Mary Gerst reported that she and Bonnie Utz attended the most recent picnic-organization meeting and summarized planned food and entertainment. Committee members were asked to put out event signs in their neighborhoods; members discussed whether it would be easiest for PAR volunteers to install the signs themselves rather than have addresses returned to town staff for installation. The group requested a firm installation date.
The town is sending letters to businesses that have helped in the past; PAR members were asked to follow up on any businesses that have not replied so organizers know who will sponsor or provide services. Members also raised whether the existing volunteer forms should be revised to suit general event volunteers rather than board service.
The committee approved the Aug. 14 minutes at the meeting’s start and will meet next on Sept. 11, 2024, at 5 p.m.
