Committee explores message-kiosk upgrades, possible Creative Pinellas funding

Commissioner Schoos joined the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee at its Aug. 14 meeting to outline how Creative Pinellas can support community arts projects and improvements to town message kiosks.
"They act as a resource for communities and the Arts community. There is public funding for projects that are of interest," Commission Schoos told the committee, according to meeting minutes. Committee members said they need further discussion about what PAR envisions for sprucing up the kiosks and agreed to work through Town staff on next steps.
Chair Loretta Fricks said she will contact Town staff member Mike to explore whether the committee can work directly with Jolie at Creative Pinellas and suggested visiting Creative Pinellas at the Botanical Gardens off Walsingham to learn more about their programs. Any project would require coordination with town staff and follow-up discussions within the committee.
The committee recessed without advancing a specific kiosk project; members will revisit the issue at future meetings. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee's next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 28, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
