School committee approves harassment, access, substitute and school‑choice policy updates

ACAB (harassment): Chair said legal counsel revised the policy to avoid duplicating the district’s bullying policy and added contact information. After brief comment, the committee moved and approved ACAB by roll call.
ECAB (access to building and grounds): The committee adopted a new ECAB policy; the chair said the draft came from MASC and was reviewed by Director Kopas, and that a website link for school schedules was added in response to a prior comment.
GCG (substitute professional staff employment): Director DiNapoli reviewed GCG and made one minor change since the last reading; the committee approved the policy.
JFBB (school choice): The committee updated JFBB to add a sibling priority consistent with Mass. General Law and MASC advisory guidance and approved the second reading.
First reads: The committee also introduced first reads of JKAA (restraint of students), with definitions updated to align with new state law as prepared by Director Davidson, and KBG (parent advisory council) to capture LPAC/MLPAC/CPAC language for the policy manual. Committee members asked clarifying questions and the items will return for second reading.
What happens next: Policies JKAA and KBG will be on the agenda for second reading at a subsequent meeting; the four approved policies are adopted per the committee’s roll‑call votes.
