On Feb. 24, 2026, the Sterling Park Advisory Board voted to recommend a new set of board by‑laws to the City Commission and to retain the current officers through Dec. 31, 2026.
Chairman Dwight Nichols presented a draft of the proposed by‑laws, which set officer terms to run one calendar year, Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. Board members discussed whether to begin new officer terms immediately or to keep the existing officers in place through the remainder of 2026; the group reached consensus to retain the current officers and hold elections for 2027 at the board’s last meeting of 2026.
The motion to recommend the by‑laws and retain the officers was moved by Board Member Jed Miller and seconded by Board Member Lynne Bush; the motion carried 5‑0. Earlier in the meeting the board also approved the agenda (motion by Miller, seconded by Kent Anthony) and the consent agenda including the Sept. 24, 2025 minutes (motion by Miller, seconded by Bush), each carried 5‑0.
The recommendation now goes to the City Commission for final action. If the Commission approves the by‑laws, the board’s officer schedule will follow the new term language and elections for 2027 officers will occur at the board’s last meeting in 2026.
