Board hears 2023–24 audit; BEST after‑school audit finds no deficiencies but flags sustainability

The Sublette USD No. 374 Board received two audit reports at its Nov. 11 meeting that showed no significant programmatic deficiencies but raised administrative and sustainability issues.
Guest auditor Rachael Thooft presented the district’s 2023–24 financial audit and reported no significant deficiencies. The audit did note missing meeting minutes in the minutes book and the absence of a signed GAAP waiver, items the auditor flagged for the Board’s follow-up.
Michelle Avritt, the district’s testing coordinator, reported on a site audit of the BEST 21st Century after‑school program. Avritt said the site audit found no deficiencies and praised average daily attendance and staff support, but she told the Board the program costs about $125,000 annually and recommended the district explore ways to sustain the program if the grant is not renewed. She also said Lori Hensley offered to provide instruction on healthy relationships once a month for grades 7–9 at no cost to the district.
Board members asked staff to gather more information and coordinate with participating districts; Avritt was asked to return with additional detail at the December meeting before the Board makes a participation decision.
