At its Sept. 9 meeting the Sublette Unified School District No. 374 Board of Education approved multiple grants and programs, tabled a facilities project for cost review and approved a KASB policy update.
Rachel Lee, elementary principal, reported the district received a Dollar General grant and continuation of the Patterson Pre-K grant; the board approved acceptance of the Patterson grant (motion by Lee Mason, seconded by Pete Dyck). The board also voted to continue the Centera Bank 'Save for America' program in the elementary school after a presentation by Britney Marlin (motion by Lee Mason, seconded by Ruthie Vaughan). The minutes also note the district received the BEST 21st Century After School Grant, which funds an after-school program enrolling about 88 students; the United Methodist Church purchased school supplies for elementary students totaling roughly $8,000.
On facilities, Superintendent Rex Richardson presented bids to replace auditorium doors and windows at the high school. The board discussed potential cost reductions and tabled the motion to the next meeting to allow time to explore options (motion carried 6-0).
Superintendent Richardson asked the board to approve a KASB policy update as presented; the board approved the update (motion by Pete Dyck, seconded by Lee Mason). The meeting closed after multiple executive sessions and a short superintendent report reminding members to confirm attendance for the fall conference in Wichita in November.
