Two registered public commenters used the commission’s public-comment period to press for policy changes.
Brendan Robinson, chairman and cofounder of the New Jersey Cannabis Chamber of Commerce, said the current six-month product expiration window is among the shortest in the country and creates pressure throughout the supply chain. "We're seeing manufacturers who are rushing products... retailers forced into aggressive discounting... It's affecting micro businesses, independent cultivators, the manufacturers, the retailers," Robinson said, and he urged the commission to prioritize a move to a 12-month standard via rulemaking or stakeholder engagement.
Andrea Bridal thanked the commission for recent transparency improvements and urged more attention to the medical program, which she described as "dying" because of limited product access, higher prices and lower monthly limits. Bridal asked the commission to ensure the patient-services committee and other roundtables focus on maintaining the medical program as a public-health service.
Chair Laufer acknowledged both public commenters and said the commission has a patient-services committee and is working to keep stakeholders informed. The remarks were made during the meeting's public comment period after a long agenda of licensing and enforcement actions.
