Wells Branch MUD approves order calling 2026 director election, signs joint election agreements with counties

The Wells Branch Municipal Utility District board voted unanimously June 16 to call its 2026 director election for Places 1, 3 and 5 and approved joint election agreements and contracts for election services with Williamson and Travis counties; the district attorney was authorized to provide required election notices.
Board President Betsey Harper said at the June 16 meeting that the Board would call the 2026 director election and review related interlocal agreements. John Bartram, the District’s general counsel, presented the Order Calling Director Election and recommended approval of resolutions authorizing joint election agreements with Williamson and Travis counties.
Bartram said the joint agreements allow the counties to staff and conduct early and regular voting for the District’s election and “should be substantially lower” in cost than purchasing or renting compliant voting equipment. He noted the Texas Election Code requires joint election terms be stated in a resolution adopted by the Board.
After discussion, upon motion by Director Moises Solis and second by Director Shelley Palmer, the Board voted unanimously to approve the Election Order and the Williamson and Travis County election agreement resolutions and to authorize District counsel to give notice of the election as required by law.
The action keeps in place the District’s option to cancel the election if it later proves uncontested, as allowed under Texas law. The Board did not set a polling place or provide additional details beyond approving the form agreements and authorizing required notice.
